Taobao Shipping Options

Editorial update: 5 October 2026. This Singapore shipping guide replaces obsolete carrier lists, historical prices and the old GST summary. Check the routes, restrictions and charges offered for your exact order.

Three delivery approaches to compare

  • Direct delivery: where offered, review the international delivery charge and whether it is included in the checkout total.
  • Consolidation (集运): items from several sellers can be sent to a warehouse and grouped for the onward shipment. Check the warehouse procedure and how the international shipping charge is paid.
  • A separate forwarder: you use the provider’s genuine warehouse address and customer identifier, then arrange onward shipment under that provider’s terms.

Availability varies by item, destination and provider. The old 4PX, Lazada and other carrier selections described in the original article should not be treated as a current menu.

Choose a route before buying

  1. Enter your correct delivery destination and inspect the shipping choices offered.
  2. Check whether the route accepts your item, especially batteries, liquids, magnets, food or unusually large goods. Ask the carrier when uncertain.
  3. Estimate packed dimensions and weight, not just the bare product dimensions. Ask the seller for packing information for bulky items.
  4. Check the delivery estimate, collection or doorstep options, tracking and compensation terms.
  5. Compare the total delivered price before paying for the item.

Actual and volumetric weight

A large lightweight box may cost more than its scale weight suggests. Providers can charge using volumetric weight calculated from the parcel dimensions. The divisor, rounding and minimum charge vary, so use the selected provider’s current formula. Do not reuse the old dimensions and weight limits from the 2017 guide.

For illustration, if a hypothetical provider used length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6,000, a 40 × 30 × 30 cm box would have a volumetric weight of 6 kg. That is only an example; it is not a claim about the formula used by your chosen route.

Consolidating several parcels

Keep each seller’s tracking number and check that every intended parcel has reached the warehouse. Review the selected parcels and final charge before confirming dispatch. Check storage deadlines and charges; waiting for a delayed item can affect the others. Do not assume consolidation always saves money, especially if it creates a bulky package.

Using an independent forwarder

Verify the provider’s current service, genuine warehouse address, customer identifier, prohibited-item list and pricing before ordering. My original article described using ezbuy and SGShop in the past; those experiences are historical and do not establish today’s rates or service quality.

If checkout rejects a warehouse address, ask the provider or platform for a supported solution. Do not enter a fake address or attempt to evade an item or delivery restriction.

Singapore GST and import rules

The old statement that air shipments below S$400 are always tax-free is no longer a reliable rule. IRAS explains that qualifying low-value goods bought from GST-registered overseas suppliers and delivered by air or post can attract GST at purchase. The rules differ by shipment and supplier. Keep invoices and any GST records. Customs restrictions and the carrier’s acceptance rules both matter. Do not understate the value or misdescribe the goods.

When something goes wrong

Identify which leg is delayed: seller to warehouse or warehouse to Singapore. Contact the seller for the first leg and the relevant logistics provider for the onward shipment. Keep photos and tracking records for damage claims and check claim deadlines.
